Advice for the President-Elect

Sure, I have my opinions on what President Obama should do, once he's in office. Somehow I doubt he'd be interested in my ideas on missile defense in Poland. I'm no expert in international relations.

As a mom, though, let me set the man straight.

In a couple of months, President Obama is going to move his family across the country. He will have a new job, arguably one of the most important jobs in the nation. His wife will have a new job, too. They'll have a new house which they pretty much have to redecorate. Their daughters will be in new schools. The entire family is going to be exhausted, and stressed, and disoriented. They'll be lucky to spend time together, just the four of them.

Honey, now is not the time to get a new puppy.

you know how kids are. once you say it they are going to ask you every hour of everyday when they gonna get the puppy. 'But you promised'...

The White House HAS to have a puppy. Plus, they'll have so much help it won't be like really having a puppy.

I think it's hilarious how much attention this not-yet-got-puppy is getting. It's all over the British press too! You'd think there would be more important things they would be reporting on.
I actually agree with Alf - it's not like they'll be looking after it anyway - the *staff* will do that. I just hope they get a rescue dog, IF they get one at all ;o)

I kind of thought the same thing, but then I figured, living in the white house, they probably have someone to take care of the puppy.

I love this post. You're absolutely correct. This advice is clearly based on wisdom, experience, and simple common-sense.

I'm Chris - came via ALF - thought I'd say hello. Am enjoying your blog.
